Web based discussion media is used as a component for lecturing and science development. This paper describes web based discussion media using PHP as the scripting language and MySQL as the database. The installation of discussion media on web server is started with PHP and MySQL database server installation. Database is made to save discussion data, but before that it was filled with table and field, which match the program. The program, which is going to be used for discussion media, was configured before. The configuration covers database host, database user, database password, and database name.The installed program is tested on its basic functions and administrative functions. The administrator holds the making of discussion category. Moderator can be appointed to help the organization. User can gives new topics and responses for the discussion category. At present, this discussion media has been used in the Pyhsics Department, Sebelas Maret University, Jakarta (http://fisika.uns.ac.id) with 287 members and 330 active topics spread in 23 category and 2,752 posting.
