A steady state analysis is applied to study thevoltage collapse problem. The modal analysis method isused to investigate the stability of the power system. Q-Vcurves are used to confirm the obtained results by modalanalysis method and to predict the stability margin ordistance to voltage collapse based on reactive power loaddemand. The analysis is performed for a well-knownsystem; Jawa-Bali 20 Bus system. The modal analysistechnique is performed for all systems using the constantbus voltage. Then, the most critical mode is identified foreach system. After that, the weakest buses, whichcontribute the most to the critical mode, are identifiedusing the participation factor.
