A new reactor burnup strategy CANDLE (Constant Axial shape of Neutron flux, nuclide densities and power shape During Life of Energyproducing reactor) was proposed in 2000, where shapes of neutron flux, nuclide densities and power densitydistributions remain constant but move upward (or downward) along its core axis. Since then many researchactivities have been performed in Tokyo Tech. In this paper these activities are summarized, and some otherimportant activities relating CANDLE burnup performed in the other institutes in the world are also introduced. Keywords: CANDLE, burnup, fast reactor, long-life reactor, safe, proliferation resistant.
