>

The term E-Learning or E-Education, has brought a new meaning to education. It has been touted as the next wave in the evolution of learning. With E-Learning supported by the advent and rapid spread of the Internet, the learning can now reach masses of people, at their convenience, with minimal cost. It is an attempt to apply the open learning concept which has evolved from distance learning that offers an option for committed and independent working adults to study in a separate geographical location from the instructor, and undergo learner–centered rather than lecturer-centered learning. In this teaching and learning model a highly interactive mode involving high quality instructional material is used by adapting ICT, such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence and knowledge systems. Even though this new method of delivering education seems to be widely accepted throughout the world, there still exist some problems with its acceptance among the students researchers and scholars. As a result, students enroll into this kind of learning environment but soon withdraw from their studies and caused so hurdles. This paper examines the reasons for students drop out from e-leaning environment and evaluates benchmarks for success for this kind of learning approach.
